This year has been my year of making a difference in my life and impacting others. Looking back at last January when I was going into 2016, I never thought that I would be in the place that I am right now. I did many firsts this year that other people and myself wouldn’t have expected out of me. It’s crazy how fast time flys by and right when you enter a new year, before you know it, 365 days have already passed. Bringing 2016 to an end, I want to reflect on the things this year that made me become the person that I am today on December 26th, 2016.
Something that I didn’t expect to happen this year was my realization of what my true passion is. Through working with like minded individuals, going out of my comfort zone, and creating great content and videos, I came to the conclusion that I love to inspire others. I want to make an impact on people’s lives by doing things that weren’t expected out of me. The past couple months I have had the opportunity to inspire others to do things that are outside of their comfort zone which is very effective. Following finding my passion, I also realized that I had the ability to do things that I couldn’t have ever thought of doing. It really is finding that push and self belief to tell yourself that you can do anything it is that you want to do. Once you acknowledge that your mind is the main driver in your actions and beliefs, that’s when you find what you are good at and your actual passion.
I am truly blessed with the opportunities and self flourishment that I had this year. I had many goals that I set this year and I am glad that I met most of them. My main one that I am proud of was attaining an internship this past summer in Los Angeles, CA. I remember telling myself that as a sophomore I would get an internship that would help me with my apparel merchandising major in school. With the determination of doing so, I acquired that internship which turned out to be an incredible experience for me. Not only that but I also had the challenge of moving to California by myself for the summer. Living in my hometown my entire life, this was a tough move for me but it helped me grow in a personal aspect.
This year was the year of doing what I loved and understanding what that all consisted of. The situations that I encountered, learned from, and overcame, have really molded myself and what I want 2017 to look like. Knowing that I have a great foundation of the things that I want to work on for the upcoming year assures me on the goals that I am going to expect out of myself for 2017. With finishing my sophomore year and starting my junior year, going to Los Angeles, being apart of YEC, and unfortunately realized that Trump won the elections shows that in less than a week this new year will be very interesting and a hell of a lot of excitement. I am glad and blessed with the people who I met this year and hope to continue growing great relationships with more people.
2016 did me well but I can’t wait to kill 2017!
