This past weekend I was down in Orlando for the Live to Grind Mastermind working with bright individuals who have set out to accomplish big goals in the next 6 months. It was exciting to see how much talent there was in one room and how everybody could help each other in some sort of way. The focus for this weekend was to learn how to market your business and create your personal brand.
There are a lot of different ways that you can market yourself in this day and age, but it is more about what works effectively. Throughout the past weekend I got a lot of great insight that I want to share with you guys to start focusing on building up your brand. Mainly because you can have a great product to sell to customers, but if they don’t know who you are they won’t buy from you.
Many platforms such as Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook can be used to generate more of a following to get people to know who you are and what you do. Therefore, breaking it down to these three areas can help you start building your brand so you can knock it out of the park.
Writing (Blogs or Books)
Writing is not dead, it is still a powerful asset to use in order to get your knowledge out to the world. As you are reading right now I am producing this blog for you guys. I put out blogs each Monday to inspire others to kill the rest of the week. Becoming an author is also major credibility that you want in your title. Recently, I became a best selling author with my book Enrolling in Confidence and I already have people reaching out to me treating me as an influencer. This creates a higher title in their eyes and instantly you are seen as a credible source.
Video (Vlogs or TV Show)
Video is hot nowadays, it is trending and everyone who is wanting to build their personal brand is creating video. Whether it is a vlog or your own TV show you are suddenly seen by numerous people. Video creates a better engagement with your audience because they can visually see you and what you are doing. Facebook Lives, Instagram Lives, and Snapchat Stories is a great way to interact with your audience on a daily basis. When you show them your lifestyle and the daily tasks that you do to gain success, it creates a story for them to watch. So weather you are shy in front of a camera or not you should click that record button.
Podcasting (Solo or Interviews)
I jumped into podcasting about 6 months ago and it has been one of the greatest things that I could’ve done to help my personal brand and my communication skills. Podcasting may seem scary to some people because all you do is talk into a mic about topics, but what if you mess up? The beauty about podcasting is it is not live so if you mess up you can edit it out and create phenomenal audio content. Bringing on guests on your show to interview creates better engagement and allows you to tap into their audience as well. You get a lot better at communicating and speaking when you podcast on a regular basis. It’s a easy way to put out content because all you do is talk and it allows you to share on numerous platforms to get your name out.
These three platforms have helped me build my personal brand faster than I ever thought I could. However, it’s important to first pick one, become good at it, and then add more onto your plate. Mainly because if you jump on too many new things at once you will get overwhelmed and it won’t be genuine content you are putting out.
I started with blogging back in September of 2016 and did that for a couple months until I started to build a following and then created a podcast show in January of 2017. A couple months later I built more of a following and then started to create video. Make sure to also stay consistent with your content, pick one or two days a week to put out content and stick to the same days each week.
So start with one resource, learn everything about it, distribute it on different platforms and then start diving into other resources. Before you know it you will build an engaging following which will help you get more sales for your business and have a built up personal brand.
