Do you ever stop yourself in the middle of a race and wonder why you are doing exactly what you are doing right now? Many people follow the norm and do what everyone else is doing in life, and they never dare to step outside of that to see what else they can be doing. I’ve felt like my entire life has been different than everyone else.
Till this day I have never had many friends because I never understood how ‘cliques’ would work. In middle school, high school, and even in college it’s all about social life and how one would perceive you and if you did something that challenged the norm, you were seen as different.
I also realized that many people change themselves in order to fit into today’s society. But what really is society and the ‘norm’?
When I am with like minded individuals, my inner circle, I feel like I am on the right path to success. However, when I am around my college friends, I feel like I am disconnected from what they are doing or talking about. Sometimes it’s really odd because people don’t fully understand where I am coming from.
They don’t understand my ‘why’ and why I work so hard every single day to see success at a young age. I go to college, am expected to go to class, get a part time job, and go out on the weekends as a typical college student would. Apparently, I am also supposed to drag myself through the week just so I can indulge in two days that are called the weekend. But I don’t get it.
I don’t understand why on earth people live a life in a way where they LIVE for the weekends!
It makes no sense to me. I used to be that person, but I soon realized that I was just wasting my life because I was watching days go by, doing absolutely nothing.
Nothing.
Literally nothing.
I would wake up, go to class, go to my job, sleep, and repeat. The weekend would come by and I would go out, have fun, and then dread for the upcoming week. I absolutely hated it and I don’t know how or why I did that for so many years. Days go by so fast and I see so many people waste precious time by doing things that are expected out of them and I can tell that they aren’t living the most fulfilled life that they can.
Even though I am still a college student, I chose to adjust my life in how I want to live in it. I go to class like a regular college student. For many people they get done with class, they are done for the day, but that’s never the case for me. When you are an entrepreneur you have to work hours after 5pm in order to see success. To others, it may seem like all i ever do is work and I never have fun, but when I am working on my business it is my passion, that is what I love to do.
Growing up shy, I had to break out of my comfort zone numerous times in order to be what I want to be in the future. If you were to talk to me when I was in high school, you would have noticed that I wasn’t too confident in expressing myself. However, now I have broken out of that state and have became the person that I have been hoping for.
My life is different. Different from college students because I choose to push myself, knowing that I am capable of doing so much more in college than just the average. If I want to be a full time entrepreneur after I graduate in college, I have to work hard every single day to do so.
That is my why and my driving factor behind why I do what I do every single day.
What is yours?
