On March 1st 2017, I made the goal to write and publish a book on Amazon in just 30 days! Ever since the new year started I always thought about writing a book based on everything that I have learned throughout the past couple of years but never put myself to it. I learned that if you create a goal with a major deadline, it allows you to push yourself to actually achieve it. Therefore, that is what I did!
I decided to write a book that shared my experiences as a college student and how I flourished as a person with the people who had impacted me. I really wanted to share advice that I use in my life to live how I want to in college. The tips that this book holds can be applied to any college student who is wanting to live the life they want to, no matter what field they are in. As a current college student, I felt like it was my duty to share and inspire other students to find their passion and why after I found mine in college.
The 30 days that I wrote and published this book flew by faster than I thought it would be! Before I even started writing my book I laid out everything that I wanted to write about and scheduled it day by day. That way I made sure that I adequately spaced out my writing so I wouldn’t be cramming to get my book finished. I successfully finished writing my book in 26 days, just in time to have it edited by my editor.
The 26 days that I wrote my book, was quiet a reflection on the things that I experienced in my college years. I got to look back on the people I met and influenced me to be the person that I am today. Writing a book does help you with your writing skills but it also helps you realize that you have a lot of knowledge about a specific area. That you should be sharing the knowledge you have with other people that surround you. Never in my 20 years of living did I think I would author a book at the age of 20 but I looked at what I was knowledgable about most and ran with it.
A lot of people pushed me to write and publish this book in 30 days and I wouldn’t have done it without the support from my circle of mentors. I would like to thank three people in particular who really helped me a ton throughout this journey.
First of all I would like to thank Laura Peterson, who coached me throughout this 30 day goal. She was actually the main person who inspired me to challenge myself in doing this in 30 days because she did it herself! Throughout the 4 weeks, Laura taught me everything I needed to know about structuring my book to logistics on putting it on Amazon, without her I probably would have struggled a lot throughout writing my book.
Secondly I would like to thank Brandon T. Adams, who wrote the foreword for my book. He is my main mentor and the driving force behind my success as a college student. I am honored and thankful that he pushed me throughout this journey and agreed to give his insight on things that he learned while being in college that I could use for my book. As you read my book, you will learn that he was the one who inspired me to start doing what I love while in college.
Finally I would like to thank Paul Kirkpatrick, who illustrated the front cover of my book and helped me with ideas on my book throughout the entire process. He is an awesome graphic designer and I was very grateful when he volunteered to design the front cover of my book. Paul helped me brainstorm the beginning ideas of my book and picked a pretty good title (yes, he thought of the title 🙂 ).
I would also like to thank everyone else who reached out to me and pushed me to finish this book. This journey was probably one of the most rewarding experiences in my life and I couldn’t have done it without the support and encouragement of people pushing me on a daily basis.
However, after long nights, constant typing, and hours of editing, my book is now published on Amazon!

If you guys are thinking to write a book, I highly encourage you to! It is a very great experience and who doesn’t want to say they are an author? 😉
