For the past 5 days I was in Tampa, FL at The Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization (CEO) conference with a bunch of other people from different universities around the US. For those of you who aren’t familiar with CEO, it is a three day conference consisted of numerous speakers, breakout sessions, and a great amount of networking. I took note of numerous quotes and thoughts throughout the conference so I could have the opportunity to share it with you guys. The connections and knowledge that I gained this past week has been so helpful that I can definately use to get closer to my goals.

Last week, I was on the edge of not going to this opportunity because of the load of work that I had to do that week. I weighed out my options and figured out WHY I should go and how it would help me. Over some back and forth decision making between my two options I decided why I should be going to this conference. First off, I’ve stated in my other blogs and tell people all the time that you should take every opportunity that is given to you. I highly believe in this because you never know who you are going to meet and how that can help you in the future. For me, I had the tremendous honor of getting dinner after the CEO conference with Brandon T. Adams and Forbes Riley, the billion dollar woman. I made a great connection with her and would have never had this chance if I hadn’t gone to the conference. Secondly, a change in views helps your mindset and runs your creative juices of developing new ideas. I love to travel and go to different places because it helps me clear my mind and focus on things that I love to do. Since I have lived in Iowa my entire life, there isn’t as many opportunities as there would be in bigger cities, therefore, getting a chance to travel to those cities are very rewarding. Finally, the last thing that I thought about before going to the conference was building myself mentally and as a brand. If you want people to know you, you need to go to events where there are people you can network with that can help you with your goals. I learned and developed my personal brand from this conference which I wouldn’t have if I didn’t attend.

Now, since you guys know my way of going to this conference, I want to share with you guys the keys thing that I learned over the past couple of days.

Start Now

  • There is never a better time than starting now. I have been guilty of this before but I taught myself about why I should start now and not later. There isn’t a set timeline of your life, you don’t know what’s going to happen next, therefore, you need to lay out your goals and work at it everyday.

What Do You Want?

  • Ask yourself what do you want, and if you can’t answer it with full details think about your why and how your goal will help you achieve what you want in life. Many people when asked this question can’t answer it because they don’t know what they want. It all starts with that, once you know that it will be easier to obtain it.

Believe in Your Goals

  • I don’t know how many time I’ve heard people’s goals but they don’t believe in them and themselves. How do you expect to reach that goal if you don’t have the mindset and courage to do so? You are not going to get that goal under your Christmas tree, you need to believe in it. “Whatever the mind conceives and believes it achieves”, shout out to Brandon for ramming this quote into my head.

Don’t Let Others Get To You

  • You can’t do it. That’s going to take your forever. Your wasting your time. Think realistically. You are crazy. There’s a million other people who are doing that, who have failed. Heard of these sayings? I have, but I haven’t let them get to me, one of the main killers of people goals are other people telling them that they can’t do it. So listen to those sayings, use them for motivation, and keep on grinding.
