There are so many times in life where we face a gap between ourselves and the successes that we want.

Imagine you are standing at the edge of a cliff and you see the other side of the road.

Cliche right? Bear with me.

You see the other side of the road but you are not sure if you should jump or not. You may be hesitant because you have the fear of not making it to the other side. However, if you don’t jump you forever will have to stay on the side that you are on. You don’t want to be in the same place because you see growth, change, and happiness on the other side of the cliff. So what do you do? Do you stay on the side that you are comfortable with knowing that you are safe or do you take that leap of faith knowing that you can make a change in your life?

My advice is take that jump. Hypothetically speaking. If you are on a real cliff I advise you not to do that unless you are attached to a bungee cord!

Here is why.

You spend your life doing what everyone else is doing, what is ‘expected out of you’. Many people don’t realize the statement of ‘you only live once’, yes they hear it but never really take the time to analyze how true it really is. People can live their lives in the shallow water hoping that one day they can take that leap and jump in the deep end. However, they take so much time contemplating whether or not to take that jump that they waste so much time in their lives. I know I have done that numerous times in my life and looking back, there’s no way I can ever get the time back. Time is the most valuable asset that anyone can have in their lives. You can get money, experiences, opportunities day in and day out but one thing you cannot get back is time.

If you want to take that jump for ANYTHING in life I advise you to do so. If you know that there is even a little bit of chance that you can get some type of benefit out of it, I say go for it. Nothing is worse than having the feeling of regret after you decide not to do something, been there done that and it’s not fun. Life is all about taking risks and living on the edge, especially if you are young. People who are in college, just graduated college, or don’t even have a family yet barely have any major responsibility. So why not take advantage of it and explore the possibilities that can lead to great opportunities at the end of the day?

Fear and doubt is the number one thing that kills people to take that leap. They start asking themselves ‘what if’. What if I don’t make it to the other side? What if I fail? What if I make a joke out of myself?

Well let me ask you this. Would you rather ask yourself the question, “What if?” for the rest of your life or take the chance to see the outcome when you take that leap? Worst comes to worst you will fail and learn from it and usually failing isn’t all that bad because you always get a valuable lesson out of it.

Maybe people will laugh, maybe you will make a joke out of yourself, but who cares? You are the one who did something different and wanted to make a change in YOUR life, so don’t feel bad about yourself from people who are hating on you, they are probably doing that because they don’t have the courage to make a leap.

So when you are standing in front of that gap to either jump and take that leap or turn back to stay where you’ve been, which one are you going to choose?
